I must rant for a short time. I have been trying not to put it on here but it has been about 3 months now and this still bothers me.
We all know that I am a full-time student, full-time worker and husband. So this rant is about the college I attend. I am going to school for Information Technology with a concentration on Networking. If you know anything about IT then you know that you can get certified in certain areas (A+, Server +, Network +, etc.) Typically you can take a class and then you have time to study and when you are ready you can take your certification test. When YOU ARE READY.
My school decided that it would be a good idea to wrap the cost of the testing into your tuition and require the test be taken before the semester is over. Now why this does save me from having to pay for the test myself they are still getting us. Normally when you pay for the testing you have a year to take your chance. My classes are 8 weeks long and when I buy the testing I have to take the test in that 8 weeks. You are not even finished with the class when you are required to take the test.
Then you have all the full-time students who have at least 4 classes, so on top of all your homework for all of your classes you are expected to study for this test that has a pass rate of around 35%. It is like the school is setting you up to fail.
I am done with my ranting….
With all the ranting I am happy to announce that I have taken the first part of the A+ exam and passed. I am scheduling the other half soon and if I pass then I will be A+ certified. Then I am getting my Network + and Server+.
